SCG9913 - 🇬🇧 British Morocco Agencies – 1936 Edward VIII 5c on 1d Green (Overprinted)
1 in stock
A striking provisional issue created for use in the British Post Offices in Morocco, this stamp began life as the United Kingdom’s 1d green definitive depicting King Edward VIII. Following the King’s abdication and the need for locally valid currency, the stamp was overprinted “MOROCCO / AGENCIES” and surcharged 5 Centimes for postal use within the French currency system. The deep green portrait design stands out sharply against the bold black overprint, making it a classic and highly collected item of British colonial postal history. Examples remain desirable due to Edward VIII’s short reign and the limited period of use of these surcharged issues.
