SCG9439 - Chile 1970 – Nationalization of Copper, Revalued 1975 (40c → 70c)
1 in stock
This striking Chilean issue was originally released in 1970 to commemorate the historic 1969–1970 nationalization of the country’s copper industry—an event that reshaped Chile’s economic direction. The design features the national star emblem at the center of a stylized copper-ore symbol, printed in bold red tones by the Casa de Moneda de Chile. In 1975, amid postal tariff changes, the stamp received a prominent “Revalorizada 1975 – 70c” red overprint, increasing its postal value from 40 centavos to 70 centavos. Revalued issues from this period are popular with specialists due to their clear economic and political significance and the variety of overprint types found in circulation.
