SCG9242 - Germany – Ostland Overprint on 16 Pf Adolf Hitler Definitive (WWII Occupation Issue)
1 in stock
This 16-Pfennig green definitive of Germany from the WWII era features the standard portrait used in the 1941–44 Hitler series, here overprinted “OSTLAND” for postal use in the German-occupied Baltic territories (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and parts of Belarus). These occupation overprints were produced in limited quantities and are an important part of WWII postal-history study. The bold black overprint contrasts sharply with the underlying design, making varieties and forgeries a known area of specialization. A significant item for collectors focused on wartime administrations, regional postal control, and occupation-period issues.
