SCG8862 - Greece 1914 Red Cross Surcharge – 50 Lepta “Corinth Canal” (Inverted Overprint Variety)
1 in stock
This striking Greek semi-postal issue features the iconic Corinth Canal engraved in deep violet, originally part of the 1913 “Campaign” series. In 1914 these stamps were surcharged “ΛΟΙΟΝΟΡ” in red (for Red Cross fundraising), but your example shows the rare inverted surcharge, a prized error strongly sought by specialists. The bold red Greek cross enhances its humanitarian theme. Clean impression, sharp canal detailing, and a well-centered overprint make it an excellent variety for any Red Cross or Greece classic collection. Such inverted overprints are significantly scarcer than normal surcharges.
