SCG8682 - Venezuela 1950s Overprinted Airmail Stamp – Caracas Main Post Office
1 in stock
This striking Venezuelan airmail stamp originally issued in the 1950s depicts the Oficina Principal de Correos de Caracas (Main Post Office of Caracas), rendered in detailed line engraving. Printed in violet by Bundesdruckerei Berlin, it was later overprinted “RESELLADO / VALOR Bs. 0,05”, indicating a revaluation from the original 90 céntimos denomination. Such surcharges were applied during postal rate changes to make use of existing stock. The design highlights the elegance of Venezuela’s postal architecture and the country’s reliance on airmail during the mid-20th century.
