SCG8349 - Yemen – Kingdom of the Mutawakkilite Yemen, 5 Bogaches Flag Issue
1 in stock
This striking stamp was issued by the Royaume Al-Moutawakkiliyyah du Yémen (Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen), likely in the early 1960s before the fall of the monarchy in 1962. The central design depicts the national flag — a red field featuring a white curved sword surrounded by four white stars. The ornate blue and white frame includes Arabic calligraphy and the denomination 5 Bogaches, a subunit of the Yemeni rial.
This issue represents one of Yemen’s final pre-republican definitives, blending Islamic artistry with national symbolism. Stamps of this type were printed by Stamperia Valori, Roma, reflecting Yemen’s reliance on Italian printers for philatelic production during that era.
