SCG7956 - Ifni 1951 – Fennec Fox “Día del Sello Colonial” Issue
1 in stock
Issued in 1951 by the Spanish colonial territory of Ifni, this striking 60 + 15 céntimos stamp commemorates the Día del Sello Colonial (“Colonial Stamp Day”). The design features a finely engraved portrait of the Fennec fox (Vulpes zerda), native to the Sahara Desert and known for its large ears adapted to dissipate heat. Printed by Spain’s Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre (F.N.M.T.), the surcharge supported philatelic promotion in colonial regions. Its rich sepia tones and superb detail make it one of the most admired wildlife-themed issues from the Spanish colonial era.
