SCG7383 - Italy 1972 – Centenary of the Società Alpinisti Tridentini
1 in stock
This beautiful two-stamp set, issued by Italy in 1972, commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Società Alpinisti Tridentini (S.A.T.), founded in 1872 in Trento. The S.A.T. is one of Italy’s oldest and most respected alpine clubs, dedicated to mountain exploration, environmental preservation, and cultural heritage of the Dolomites.
The L.25 value (designed by M. Perghem Gelmi) depicts a panoramic view of snow-capped Dolomite peaks under a clear sky, with the S.A.T. emblem and anniversary dates (1872–1972).
The L.50 value (by A. Quieti) features a mountaineer silhouetted against a glowing alpine horizon, symbolizing courage and adventure. Both stamps were printed by I.P.S. – Roma and are admired for their minimalist yet evocative alpine artistry.
