SCG7332 - Germany 1923 – 250 Tausend Overprint Inflation Issue
1 in stock
This striking German stamp dates from the hyperinflation period of 1923, when the Deutsches Reich faced massive currency devaluation. The base design, originally issued at a much lower denomination, was overprinted in bold black with “250 Tausend” (meaning 250,000 Marks) to keep up with rapidly rising postal rates. Printed in carmine red with a distinctive mesh pattern and gothic lettering, it’s a classic example of emergency overprints from the Weimar Republic. For collectors, it vividly represents the economic chaos and improvisation of early-1920s Germany.
