SCG7294 - đź‡đź‡ş Hungary – 1919 “Magyar Tanácsköztársaság” Overprint
1 in stock
This historical stamp originates from the early 20th-century Hungarian Soviet Republic period (1919). It features the brown “Parliament Building” design from the 1916–1918 regular issue, originally denominated 2 korona, with a striking red overprint reading “Magyar Tanácsköztársaság” (“Hungarian Soviet Republic”).
The overprint was applied during the short-lived communist regime (March–August 1919) when existing stock was reused to assert the new government’s authority. These issues are prized by philatelists for their strong political symbolism and the transitional nature of Hungary’s postal history at the time.
