SCG7293 - Saudi Arabia – 5 Guerche Orange Stamp (Early Kingdom Issue)
1 in stock
This orange typographic stamp, inscribed “Royaume de l’Arabie Soudite” (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), dates from the early 1930s during the reign of King Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the unification of the kingdom. The denomination “5 Guerche” (also spelled “qirsh”) represents a subdivision of the riyal.
The design features ornate Arabic calligraphy in a crescent form and intricate arabesque patterns typical of early Saudi issues, with inscriptions in both French and Arabic to facilitate international postal recognition. These stamps were among the first definitive issues of the unified Kingdom, reflecting the transition from the Hejaz and Nejd period to the modern Saudi state.
