SCG7281 - Belgium 1932 – Inverted Overprint on 5c “Lion” Definitive
1 in stock
This fascinating Belgian stamp shows the iconic Lion of Belgium coat of arms, originally issued in the 1893–1915 definitive series. It carries an overprint “BELGIQUE / BELGIË / 1932”, but what makes this particular example extraordinary is that the overprint is inverted — a striking printing error highly sought by philatelists. The dark greenish-blue 5 centime design is a fine example of early 20th-century typography and heraldic engraving. Such inverted overprints were often produced in small quantities during commemorative or revaluation issues, making them notable rarities in Belgian philately.
