Issued by the United States in 1933, this 3-cent blue commemorative stamp celebrates Admiral Richard E. Byrd’s second Antarctic expedition (1933–1935). The design features a world map with marked routes of Byrd’s pioneering flights over the North and South Poles, connecting major achievements from 1926 to 1930. The inscription “Little America” identifies Byrd’s Antarctic base. This issue was notably used on mail carried aboard the expedition, creating rare “Little America” covers highly prized by polar philatelists.
