SCG6209 - São Tomé and Príncipe 1892 – 130 Réis on 300 Réis King Luiz I Overprint
1 in stock
This overprinted issue from São Tomé and Príncipe (Portuguese colony) features a portrait of King Luiz I of Portugal originally denominated 300 Réis in blue and red. Due to currency adjustments, it was surcharged “130 REIS” in black in 1892. The overprint was applied to existing Portuguese colonial stock for local postal use. These provisional surcharges were issued in limited quantities, making them particularly sought-after among collectors of Portuguese colonial philately.
