SCG5430 - Niger Territory Overprint on French West Africa 2c Camel Rider (1921)
1 in stock
This stamp originates from French West Africa (Afrique Occidentale Française) and was issued in 1921, overprinted for use in the Territoire du Niger. The base design, denominated 2 centimes, features a camel rider with a Tuareg guide in the desert, a classic motif of colonial-era West African issues. The bold black overprint “TERRITOIRE DU NIGER” converted the general French West Africa issue for postal use specifically in Niger. Such overprinted stamps are highly collectible, as they represent the transitional postal history of Niger before it began issuing its own definitive designs in 1926. A fine example of early Niger postal identity under French colonial administration.
