Issued by Deutsche Bundespost as part of the annual Für die Jugend ("For the Youth") semi-postal series, these stamps feature finely illustrated animals. The 1968 set includes the Badger (Dachs) on 30+15 Pfennig and the Beaver (Biber) on 50+25 Pfennig. From 1969, the Thoroughbred Horse (Vollblut) appears on the 50+25 Pfennig denomination. Each surcharge supported youth welfare programs in Germany. Known for their bold colors and realistic depictions, these issues remain popular among collectors of fauna and charity-themed stamps.
