SCG5020 - Austria 1919 15 Heller Brown – Coat of Arms Issue (J.F. Renner Design)
1 in stock
This is a 1919 definitive issue from the Republic of Austria, denominated at 15 heller and printed in brown. Designed by J.F. Renner, it features an ornate heraldic motif with Austria’s symbolic double-headed eagle stylized in a decorative Art Nouveau style. The inscription “Deutschösterreich” (“German-Austria”) at the top reflects the brief period after World War I when the new Austrian state used this name. Issued imperforate, these stamps are part of the first definitive series of the republic, a historically important transitional issue following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Collectors value them both for their striking design and their significance in Austrian postal history.
