SCG4820 - Great Britain 1858–1864 Queen Victoria “Penny Red” (Perforated Issue)
1 in stock
This is a classic Great Britain One Penny Red, featuring the profile of Queen Victoria. Issued between 1858 and 1864, these perforated Penny Reds replaced the imperforate line-engraved issues. The stamp shows the denomination “ONE PENNY” at the base and carries alphabet check letters in the lower corners for identification. Printed in a rich red shade, this example bears a black cancellation, typical of the period. A cornerstone for any British Victorian collection, it remains one of the most studied stamps due to its numerous plate varieties and historical postal use.
