SCG4397 - French Guiana – Inini Territory Pictorials (1932 Issue)
1 in stock
This striking set of stamps was issued for the Territoire de l’Inini, a subdivision of French Guiana created in 1930 and administered separately until 1946. The design, by R. Tillet and A. Delzers, shows an indigenous archer poised with a drawn bow, symbolizing the native heritage and untamed landscape of the region.
Each value is overprinted “TERRITOIRE DE L’ININI” in bold letters, with denominations ranging from 1 centime to 15 centimes. Printed in vivid color combinations—purple, green, red, brown, and blue—the set is admired for its detailed engraving and exotic colonial theme.
For philatelists, these issues hold significance as they were produced exclusively for Inini, a sparsely populated inland territory rarely represented in world philately. Complete sets are not always easy to find, particularly in mint condition.
