SCG4275 - Hungary 1942 Red Cross Semi-Postal Stamp – Soldiers & Carrier Pigeon
1 in stock
This Hungarian semi-postal issue from 1942 (12f + 50f) was released to support the Red Cross during World War II. The design shows a soldier releasing a carrier pigeon carrying a letter, symbolizing wartime communication, while two comrades in the background listen to a radio set. The overprint value “+50f” was a surcharge directed towards Red Cross relief efforts. Printed in deep violet, the stamp bears the inscription MAGYAR KIR. POSTA and the iconic Red Cross emblem. A fine example of wartime philately combining charity with postal history, this issue is particularly prized by Red Cross and WWII collectors.
