SCG4245 - Russia – Civil War (White Army) Overprint, 1919
Out of stock
This striking stamp originates from Imperial Russia but was overprinted during the Russian Civil War by the anti-Bolshevik White Army in South Russia. The black overprint reads “ПОЧТА РУССКОЙ АРМИИ” (Post of the Russian Army), applied on a pre-revolutionary issue. Its new value was revalued to 5,000 rubles, reflecting the rampant inflation of the time. Such issues are historically important, marking the turbulent postal history of the Civil War period. A key piece for specialists in Russian philately and Civil War postal issues.
