SCG4241 - Hanover 1864 – 3 Pfennige Carmine
1 in stock
This classic stamp from the Kingdom of Hanover, issued in 1864, features the denomination 3 Pfennige printed in carmine red. The design shows the Hanover crown above a central oval with fine vertical lines, inscribed “HANNOVER” and the value prominently in the center. Surrounding the oval is the denomination in words, with a thin rectangular border enclosing the design. This issue was part of the smaller currency values used for everyday correspondence before Hanover was annexed by Prussia in 1866. A significant piece of pre-unification German philatelic history, it appeals strongly to collectors of classic German States.
