SCG4231 - Russia (Civil War) – Russian Army Post, 1919–1920
Out of stock
This is a provisional issue created during the Russian Civil War, featuring an overprint on an Imperial Russian 2 Kopeck stamp. The original green design shows the imperial double-headed eagle within a decorative frame. It was surcharged with black text reading “Почта Русской Армии” (Post of the Russian Army) and revalued to 1000 Rubles, reflecting the rampant inflation of the period. Such issues were produced by White Army forces under General Denikin in southern Russia. These stamps are highly prized for their historical connection to the turbulent years following the Russian Revolution and are an important specialty area in Civil War postal history.
