SCG3957 - German Offices in China – 25 Pfennig (1898–1900)
1 in stock
This stamp was issued by the German Empire for use in its post offices in China during the late 19th century. It features the imperial German eagle design in orange-red, with the word “China” boldly overprinted in black to denote its restricted use abroad. Stamps like these were produced after Germany established postal agencies in treaty ports such as Shanghai and Tientsin, reflecting the expansion of foreign influence in China. The 25 pfennig value was commonly used for standard international mail, making it an important denomination for collectors of German colonial philately. Well-preserved examples with clear overprints are especially prized among specialists in the “Kiautschou and China” postal history series.
