SCG3944 - Austria 1910 Postal Stationery Card – 10 Heller Red
1 in stock
This is an Austrian postal stationery card issued in the early 20th century, uprated with an imprinted 10 heller red indicium featuring Emperor Franz Joseph I (1848–1916). The card is postmarked Innsbruck, 4 April 1910, and bears a neatly handwritten message in German, addressed to a recipient in Leissigen, Switzerland. The front includes the official bilingual text "Österr. Postverwaltung – Administration des Postes d’Autriche" and the format Korrespondenzkarte / Carte Postale. A bold blue crayon marking across the card indicates postal or administrative processing.
The reverse side contains handwritten calculations, likely commercial or accounting notations, reflecting the card’s practical business use rather than purely personal correspondence. Postal stationery of this period was widely used across the Austro-Hungarian Empire for both domestic and international communication.
Collector’s Note: Cards from the 1910s with clear postmarks and intact messages offer insight into early 20th-century commerce and cross-border correspondence within Europe. This piece is a fine example of Austrian postal stationery usage during Emperor Franz Joseph’s long reign.
