SCG3942 - Austria 1875 – 5 Kreuzer Postal Stationery Card
1 in stock
This is an Austrian Correspondenz-Karte issued in 1875, denominated 5 Kreuzer in blue-green. The card features the imprinted stamp design of Emperor Franz Joseph I within an ornate frame. Bilingual inscriptions “Correspondenz-Karte / Cartolina di corrispondenza” reflect Austria-Hungary’s multi-lingual postal issues, here in German and Italian.
The card was postmarked and sent abroad, addressed to Hamburg, Germany, with a clear circular datestamp and additional manuscript writing. On the reverse, it bears a lengthy handwritten message in German, typical of private correspondence during the late 19th century.
Such early postal stationery items are highly collectible, especially when used internationally, as they document both postal history and cultural exchange of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
