SCG3815 - Germany 1889 Postal Card to France
1 in stock
This is an official German postal stationery card issued under the Universal Postal Union (Weltpostverein) regulations, franked with an imprinted 10 Pfennig red stamp featuring the imperial eagle design. The card was postmarked in Gandersheim on 11 March 1889, with a transit cancellation from Paris Étranger. It was addressed to the stamp dealers Georges Carion & Emden in Paris, a well-known firm serving collectors in the late 19th century.
The reverse contains a neatly written French message from Frédéric Angebarke, requesting the current prices of French, colonial, and foreign stamps, reflecting the growth of philatelic commerce across Europe. Postal stationery of this period demonstrates not only the practical postal links between Germany and France but also the early international trade in stamps.
