SCG3809 - Germany 1906 Postal Card – Deutsches Reich
1 in stock
This is an original German postal card from 1906, franked with two Deutsches Reich issues: the 2 Pfennig blue and 3 Pfennig brown Germania series stamps. Both are neatly postmarked Strassburg i. Elsass on 30 November 1906, a notable Alsace-Lorraine city under German control at the time. The card is addressed to Madame Auguste Wiltz in Gross-Moyenne (France), and bears an elegant handwritten script.
The reverse side carries a French handwritten message dated the same day, showing genuine cross-border correspondence between Germany and France in the early 20th century. Such mixed-language communications on German postal stationery reflect both the cultural and political complexities of Alsace-Lorraine during this period.
A fine example of postal history, combining German Empire philately with historical context, making it a desirable piece for collectors of German Empire, Alsace-Lorraine, and early 20th century postal history.
