SCG3797 - Italy – 15 Centesimi Postal Card for Foreign Use (c. late 19th century)
1 in stock
This is an unused Italian postal stationery card, issued for international correspondence under the Unione Postale Universale (UPU). Printed in brown, it features a left-side indicium with the portrait of King Umberto I (reigned 1878–1900), framed in a decorative oval. The card is inscribed “Cartolina Italiana per l’Estero” (Italian card for abroad) and denominated 15 Centesimi, the required UPU foreign postcard rate of the era.
The reverse side is blank for the message, while the front is reserved exclusively for the address, as noted by the instruction at bottom left. Such cards are significant to postal history collectors as they represent Italy’s participation in the early years of the UPU and international standardized postal stationery.
