This Hungarian stamp was issued in 1965 to mark the 38th Stamp Day (XXXVIII. Bélyegnap). It honors Soviet cosmonaut Yuri A. Gagarin, the first human in space, who orbited Earth on April 12, 1961. The left panel features Gagarin in his helmet, with a stylized rocket and the Moon behind him. The inscription in Hungarian translates to “First Soviet Man in Space.” The denomination is 2 + 1 Forint, with the "+1" being a surcharge to support postal causes.
