SCG2367 - 1919 Bavaria "Volksstaat Bayern" Overprint Set – 5M, 10M, 20M
Out of stock
This striking set of three German stamps from Bavaria, issued in 1919, features black "Volksstaat Bayern" (People's State of Bavaria) overprints on high-denomination stamps (5 Mark, 10 Mark, and 20 Mark). Each stamp bears the profile of King Ludwig III, who was deposed during the German Revolution of 1918–19. The overprint symbolized the transition from monarchy to republican governance. These stamps are an important piece of post-WWI philatelic history, with the green 10M stamp showing perforations and the others in imperforate format. Highly collectible for both German and revolutionary-era specialists.
