SCG2360 - Guinea 2c & 4c French West Africa Native Scene Stamps
1 in stock
These early 20th-century colonial-era stamps from Guinée (French West Africa) feature an identical engraved scene of local villagers wading through water beneath a dramatic cliff backdrop. Issued under the label Afrique Occidentale Française, the 2 centimes stamp is in brown and the 4 centimes in gray-black. Rich in ethnographic detail and tribal design motifs, these stamps were engraved by J. Puyplat and illustrated by De La Nezière—well-known artists of the French colonial issues. Both stamps remain significant pieces for collectors of African or French colonial philately.
