SCG1795 - Western Ukrainian National Republic Overprints on Austrian Stamps – Trident Issue (1919)
Out of stock
This colorful and historically significant set features Austrian definitive stamps overprinted in 1919 by the Western Ukrainian National Republic (ZUNR). The bold black trident symbol (Tryzub) of Ukraine appears prominently on each stamp, alongside Cyrillic overprints like “3. H. Y. P.”, marking fiscal or postal adaptations by Ukrainian authorities. These stamps—originally denominated in Heller (Heller)—were repurposed amid the political upheaval following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. These overprints are prized by collectors of Ukrainian provisional issues and early independence movements.
