This 15 Reichspfennig definitive stamp originates from the Deutsches Reich Hitler Head series, later overprinted “OSTLAND” for postal use in Nazi-occupied Baltic and Eastern European territories during World War II (1941–1944). The bold black overprint distinguishes occupation administration issues from standard German definitives. These stamps were used in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and parts of Belarus under German civil rule. Occupation overprints form an important and historically significant WWII philatelic specialization. Well-centered examples with clear overprints are particularly desirable among collectors of wartime postal history.
