SCG12614 - China (Republic of China) – 50 Gold Yuan Surcharge on Industrial Scene Stamp (1949)
1 in stock
This stamp belongs to the late-period Republic of China emergency surcharge issues produced during the severe hyperinflation crisis of 1948–1949. Originally a 20-cent industrial design depicting trains, factories, and modernization themes, it was overprinted with “50” Gold Yuan following the currency reform introducing the Gold Yuan system. Such provisional surcharges reflect rapid postal rate adjustments and are historically important representations of China’s economic transition before 1949 political changes. Collectors value these issues for their multiple overprint varieties, postal history relevance, and short usage period. Well-centered examples with clear surcharge impressions are especially desirable.
