SCG1790 - Montenegro 1893 Postage Due Stamps – 1 Kruna & 5 Heller
1 in stock
These two classic postage due stamps were issued by Montenegro in 1893, inscribed in Cyrillic as "ПОШТА ЦРНЕ ГОРЕ" (Post of Montenegro). The green 1 Kruna and orange 5 Heller values were used to indicate unpaid or underpaid postage. Featuring a formal, circular design with the words “ТАКСЕНА БИЉЕГА” (Tax Stamp), these are excellent examples of early Montenegrin fiscal philately. Both stamps are perforated and carry rich historical value tied to the postal reforms of Prince Nicholas I’s reign.
